1-Click Geotagging photo files (JPG and RAW)

What is Geotagging? Geotagging means writing location information into photo files such as JPEG or RAW photo files.

With myTracks Geotagging becomes easy. myTracks provides two different geotagging modes: The 1-Click-Geotagging and the more advanced geotagging mode using the Pool of Photos.

To geotag photo files you only need to select your photos and drop them to the dock icon of myTracks. The photos are analyzed and synchronized with the tracks of your library. But you have to explicitly write back the location information to your photo files. You can do this by clicking onto the Geotagging button below the list of photos. Afterwards, the location information is available for other applications.

The following screencast shows the automatic geotagging feature of myTracks using the macOS tools Finder and Preview. At first, a photo is opened with Preview. You can see that no GPS information is available. Then the geotagging is performed with myTracks. Finally, you can see in Preview that the file contains location information.

Besides the 1-Click Geotagging there is another extended geotagging mode available. This extended mode will be explained in the next chapter.
